First of all I must say however that I really don't like the grunge effects that you added just then. In my opinion they're pointless and unsophisticated. You can be witty, but you don't have to resort to being obvious and predictable. I love the border though, as the colour is sensitive and well chosen.

It reminds me of Mark Weaver's work with his animal-human hybrids ([link] [link] [link] [link] [link]). I've seen quite a few of these low-fi digital collages around the blogosphere in the past few months from various different artists and designers. Unfortunately I fear they're starting to reach saturation point - mostly due to Weaver's almost fanatical obsession with the 'Make Something Cool Every Day' movement. It's scary how fast things move these days. So yes, I wouldn't say the idea is new (at least not for me), but he certainly does make an impact!

What sets your work apart from Weaver's is that you're focusing on the relationship that we have with this unsuspecting parrot, rather than political messages. By dressing him up and giving a name, you've given him so much personality. I could go on for ages with more interpretations of your work, but I fear I'd bore you, and that you'd laugh at how much I saw in such a quirky little photo. <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/l/l…" width="15" height="15" alt="" title="LOL" /> Just be glad that it made me think.

So yes - good to see you branching out again, and keep up the good wok! Hopefully I'll be able to make it to the gallery while the exhibition is on to see what all you photography students have been doing. It's a shame that we don't have an equivalent in design.
